Obviously Have Fallen Behind

Obviously I have fallen behind in trying to blog. I went to sign in and could not remember my screenname or password. I probably should have called Ben at work - he remembers that sort of thing better than I. I have this week off from school, it so far is nice and relaxing. My cousin Tony and his girlfriend Tina came to spend the weekend with us. It was the first time we had met Tina and she is wonderful!! We had so much fun hanging out with them, hopefully they will come visit again soon. Since we had house guests we super cleaned our house so that is done for the week. (thankfully too - cleaning is not my strong suit) So today I am looking forward to having a relaxing day. I am doing some laundry, planning on working out later, catching up on some tv while crocheting a baby blanket for Katie (I am determined to finish one before a baby shower or actual due date - lol) At some point this week I want to go visit with Jen and the kids and get ahead on my school planning. So before I get started on any of that I want to get caught up on the blog thing. What has happened since my last post? We had a wonderful time at Thanksgiving with the Hoffman family. It was great seeing my brother in laws and sister in laws and our four nieces. We also enjoyed spending time with Ben's parents as always. Right around the corner from that was Christmas. We had a blast with Ben's parents the weekend before Christmas as they started their "Christmas Tour" here in Rochester. We had a lot of fun and a TON of snow! After Ben and papa Ed shoveled the driveway for the 6th time all four of us decided it was time for a snow blower. Christmas came and went - we had a wonderful time Christmas Eve listening to Ben sing at church and hanging out with mom and Danny. Christmas day was fun hanging out with mom and Danny and then spending the evening with the Kilmer part of the family. We ended 2008 by purchasing our first furnace - not by choice either but glad we did it. New Years Day Ben and I hosted the annual Kilmer Family Robber Bingo event at our house. It was a lot of fun! We played robber bingo, I made Uncle Ray's famous North Carolina BBQ for the first time (it was awesome!) and all of us played with the Wii.
I turned 30 on Feb 11th - not too bad either. Everyone kept asking me if I was nervous turning 30. I thought it was wierd because it is just a number. Plus I figure that the teens were great, the 20s were wonderful so how bad could the 30s be? My goal this week is to hopefully finish Katie's blanket so I can start one for Shannon. (shannon and Justin are expecting their third child this spring. We can't wait - we love being an aunt and uncle!)Hope you enjoyed the blog and I will try to be better keeping it updated.

Nostalgia

Nostalgia - I guess that is the theme for the day. I spent part of the day cleaning out our computer room/den. Basically unpacking and repacking some boxes wondering why we have hung on to some of the items and laughing at the other memories. For example, I found a box of my play t-shirts from high school. Remember all of the "Co-ed naked..." t-shirts when we were younger? I had forgotten that we had made our own "Co-ed naked Stage Crew" t-shirts. But then I found so much other stuff that made me say "do I really need to save the brochure from Tuxedo junction from our wedding?"

This evening, more nostalgia. I had forgotten the music awards were on tonight. (I love awards shows!) One of the performers was New Kids on the Block. I found myself feeling like a tween again (watching their concert on the disney channel) as they sang their new songs and old songs like "The Right Stuff" and "Please don't go girl". Its funny how a song can make you feel 12 again - lol!

Winter Fun! or not - you be the judge

Today we awoke to a very pretty snow covering outside and the sun shining. We went outside to shovel the driveway for the first official time in our new house. It was fun! By the time we had finished a light snow was falling - very picturesque. Although I realized that the snow boots with the funky yellow laces that I have been wearing since high school (think winter 1997) were no longer going to cut it. So I spent the afternoon doing something that I hate (yes it is true not all women love shoe shopping - in fact I loathe it.) But finally after 4 hours of shopping I returned home with a pair of boots and books for my nieces for Christmas (thanks especially to a 2nd grader who graciously helped me out at Barnes and Noble) Ben spent his afternoon painting the bright blue and white closet in our guest room - it is starting to look picked up and put together in there. At least one room in the house is on its way. Now witht the economy the way it is and after looking at our target card bill we are off to mooch dinner at my mom's house and introduce her to Gilmore Girls. :-) Megan

Trying this out

Well, Ben and I decided to try our hand at blogging. I am not really sure how well this is going to work....all of the sudden I feel really boring. I am really happy that it is Friday! Who-hooo for Friday!!! It is snowing here in Rochester. I don't think I like winter very much. It is cold outside - brrrrrr. I want to turn the heat up in my house but after receiving an RGE bill today for over $300 I don't want to do that either. Ben and I are enjoying a quiet night in tonight due to the snow, no money, and the fact I am sore from falling on my face down the last 3 stairs yesterday (did I mention that I am graceful?) So we are having a Gilmore Girl marathon and are chilling out. This weekend we will be unpacking (still got loads of boxes to go - they are multiplying I think when we aren't looking). Sunday Ben will be watching football while I immerse myself in the Russian Revolution preparing for the next Global unit. We can't wait for Thanksgiving when we get to see everyone at Ben's parents house. I am looking forward to seeing Ben's brothers, my sister in laws and the kids!
